Is the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 coming to T-Mobile/WIND?

This are interesting news, some pictures of the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 surfaced via @cellguru in the twittervese today, the device sppoted is not branded to any carrier, but based on the bands support in the about screen, seems to be running in a 1700mHz band frequency, there are only two carriers for now that base their 3G network in that range, T-Mobile in the USA and WIND in Canada, they both use this AWS network, so if you thought you were out of luck if you are a customer of these two carriers, most probably you are wrong.

The device is running OS 5.0.0.426 with 6.2.0.3 platform, size seems to be pretty similar to its predecessor and is sporting a trackpad and media dedicated keys.

So RIM bring it on!!

BlackBerry 8700, Curve 8900 and 8320, Discontinued by T-Mobile?

This is something i cant confirm just yet, but sure it looks like it is true, being a T-Mobile customer i tend to check my account online on a daily basis during the night, while I am there i usually check what is new in the store, i did it just to find that, instead of new devices added  the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and 8320 and the 8700 devices are not available for purchase with a new contract agreement, is normal to see the out of stock legend in some devices, which is the case for the 8520 frost but these three doesn’t even show in the available BlackBerry line up.

After seeing this i went ahead and tried to find them trough the update device process for current customers,  when I did so, i found that are not available for upgrades either, in this case i just have the option to upgrade to the 9700, or 8520 when i choose BlackBerry devices, before i can choose from many others except the 8700, makes me wonder what is going on?

I can understand this for the 8700 and the 8320 in the worst case but what about the 8900, the device is been out for about year only and is by far one of the best devices out there, there is still a bunch of customer who wouldn’t doubt to get it. Is T-Mobile getting ready for the 8910 or is just a technical problem on the website?

I will check back early in the morning via internet and you can be sure i will do it over the phone too.

Stay tuned for updates.

While you wait here is the link for the devices line up, check and see if you can find them.

BlackBerry Magnum Protoype, Hands On Video.

Link for Mobile View

Well see this is very interesting news, the boys over @cellguru have put a video up with a kind of hands on of a BlackBerry Magnum prototype, while we all are waiting for a hybrid BlackBerry with a full qwerty keyboard and touchscreen, this seems to be pretty interesting, the device doesn’t have an OS installed so they got not option to show us the device in action, while we think this being a prototype device might not see the light, this demonstrate that at one point the device went (or is still??) into development.

We’ll see what RIM come with for us BlackBerry abusers.

BerryWeather 2.1 goes live with a Public Beta!!!

BerryWeather is the number one weather selling application, not long ago, Bellshare released version 2.0 with quite some enhancements, as usual with a update some bugs were found, to address them Bellshare updated BerryWeather to version 2.1 and its been in a closed beta for a couple of week now.
Today the developers decided is time to open the Beta Testing process to the public to polish the application even more and to listen on the user feedback.

Note that you’ll get the free trial if you don’t have a valid code, if u are using BerryWeather 1.6 or the free version you need to uninstall this version first, you also need to be a registered user in their forums to be able to post any feedback.

New Features/Bug Fixes in 2.1 include:
- Complete rework of the core. BerryWeather will now fully close the UI when sent to background. The homescreen wallpaper and icon will keep updating. Unloading the UI should save a lot of memory and avoid many potential memory leaks.
- Major rework of internal data storage. Only basic location data will be persisted across reboots. Other data is automatically reloaded approx 60s after reboot or when BerryWeather UI is opened
- Using new server protocol to improve update speeds and minimze CPU load
- Changed forecast/advisory update settings. New option ‘With Forecats’ for advisory will update advisories whenever forecasts are updated, ‘Never’ will never update advisories
- Added data+settings backup to memory card
- Added support for setting the icon size on homescreen walllpaper
- Added support for blacking out the settings screen (on by default)
- Added support for selecting whether to show radar/webcam links in internal viewer or browser (allows adding mp3/video/hrml links)
- Fixed lag on image browser for background image selection
- Fixed lag issues on BlackBerry Tour (and other devices)
- Fixed several potential memory leaks
